Awesome “Sound of Music” Flash Mob

by Katy on January 28, 2011 · 25 comments

I don’t know why flash mobs make me cry, but they always do. I guess it’s good that I’ve never witnessed one in person, as I would mortify those around me.

I love that this mob is is comprised almost entirely of little girls.

Why did that make me cry? I think you planted that idea, because I’m all teary now.

This was the first flash mob I ever saw (it’s an oldie but goodie!) and I bawled like a small child. I teared up today, too. Happy, happy tears. 🙂

Maybe you should organize a NCA flash mob happening…

Thanks for sharing that. I had my husband and 16 month old son watch it. They loved it. “The Sound of Music” is one of our favorites. You made our day! Would love to see a flash mob in person.

They make me tear up too, but I am a weeper by nature. I would love to witness one firsthand too, but I would weep.

I tend to be rather crabby and anti-social in general, but this helped to remind me that there is a lot to love about the human race. We are so wonderfully surprising and nutty at times.

Gosh I am so glad I am not the only one who cries when watching stuff like that. Fantastic!

I always tear up or full on cry when I watch a flash mob video. I think it’s because I’m Highly Sensitive. Google it sometime. Maybe you are as well. Love your blog 🙂

They make me cry, too. I think it’s the pure *joy* of these. No agenda, no sales pitch, nothing — just fun! Thank you for sharing.

That is so weird – I thought I was the only person that cried over flashmobs and now I find out that it’s more common than I thought! The worst thing was – they showed this one at a teacher professional development and I had to hide I was crying from a whole ballroom full of people, not easy!

Thanks for reminding me of this – my favourite flash mob!

They also make me cry, but then I cry often while watching movies, commercials, etc. My daughters enjoy watching me to see if I’ve started to cry yet when touching things come on the screen.

I love flash mob events like this…and the funniest thing is that when we’ve had them in our community, a million emails start flurrying worrying about “mobs” that “flash” and cause riots. Makes me want to *eye roll*!!!! There is something SO positive about these events, and people’s ignorance leads to fear of what they don’t understand.

but if it is professionally organized and photographed, IS it a ‘flash mob’ or a ‘performance’ (no matter how unconventional the venue)?

Watching them on you tube makes me cry too. However I did witness one first hand right before Christmas in downtown Keene. It was amazing and left me smiling all day.

Sound of Music Flash Mob?! Two of the greatest things ever combined 🙂 I just bawled, my husband thinks I’m crazy now. Loved it, thank you!

I get goosebumps from watching flash mobs.
I also get goosebumps from hearing Julie Andrews sing.

My goosebumps had goosebumps.

Katy–same reaction. I think it has to do with all those people happy and working together at something. If I saw one in person I would probably be a mess. 🙂

Wow – so glad to see others out there that cry when they watch flash mobs. (I cry at parades, too!) I think it ‘s just the outpouring of humanitarism. Seeing people doing things just to put smiles on other people’s faces makes me cry.

Other than that, one would rarely see me cry. Silly, but touching.

These always make me cry too! The one of the Hallelujah chorus in the department store in Philly does it to me every time.

Question: How does one find a flash mob to join? HOW COOL!
