Costco

It’s time for another Link-O-Rama Mama, where I lazily link to other people’s well written and thoroughly researched articles.

More Than Half of Americans Have Less Than $1000 to Their Name

If you have almost zero savings and live paycheck-to-paycheck, you’re not alone. A recent study came out that shows that “56 percent of Americans said they have less than $1,000 in their checking and savings accounts combined.”

Dream of Living Large After You Win The Lottery?

Would your post-lottery plans include luxurious and indulgent purchases? Well, a Canadian woman won $1,777,256.76, yet didn’t change her lifestyle whatsoever as “What this tells me is that there is nothing in my life I want because I already have everything I need.”

Yes, Americans Own Too Much Stuff!

If you feel that you’re shoveling during a snowstorm when it comes to keeping an orderly home, you’re not alone. It’s a never ending Sisyphean task. But it’s not just you as “in America, many people spend a good portion of their free time accumulating possessions, and the rest of that time attempting to clean up those same possessions. Those with children spend many frustrating hours trying to coax their children to do the same.”

Want to Join Costco for Almost Free?

If you’ve held out on joining Costco as you were unsure whether it would pay for itself, today is your day! Living Social (like Groupon) is running a special for a Costco membership that includes a $20 Costco gift certificate, a family membership card, a free pizza, an 72-pack of batteries, a likely enormous bag of organic tortilla chips and $25-off a $250 Costco.com purchase. The cost? $55, which is the normal Costco membership price without all the free stuff.

Also, if you’re new to Living Social, you get $10 back with your first purchase!

Click HERE to be directed to Living Social. (This is a referral link, but it costs you nothing extra to use it.)

So much for cleaning my house and making dinner. The kids can totally have peanut butter and jelly…as long as mamma is happy, right? Now I’m off to frugally read these awesome articles while ignoring my household duties.

You think you’re being a lazy mom, but it’s probably what your kids want anyway. #AmIRight?

Wish I had a Costco near me. We have Sam’s club but I’ve heard Costco is better.

Thanks for the Costco deal info! We’d been debating whether it made sense to join while we’re visiting Florida in our boat, but the numbers just didn’t work at $55/year. The LivingSocial deal is perfect.

Thank you for posting the Costco deal! We just got one near us in the last couple of years and I am itching to try it out. I used your affiliate link for Livingsocial, so thanks for the $10 credit also. 🙂

Thank you for the Costco deal! My husband gave me a Visa giftcard in December that he had been given from work, told me to use it to get a Costco membership. I had been wanting to get one for awhile now. I have been waiting to get the membership though because my friend had complained about having to renew her membership in December, nobody has extra money in December. Glad I held off!

The first article is terrifying. Yes, I do realize that it probably is very true but it also saddens me as I am sure it is not just because of mindless ‘charging’ on a credit card and falling into debt. It is because the minimum pay is just too little to live on, let alone being able to put anything into savings / retirement.

My hope to win big has more to do with an early retirement to do the things I love best (animal rescue, medical aid, etc), and very little to do with upgrading our lifestyle so I love the woman who won the lottery but didn’t change her lifestyle – so few of us realize how lucky we are to have what we have.

Great deal on a Costco membership! I live too far from one to make it worth my while, but I do piggyback on a friend’s membership a couple times each year.

I don’t have a Costco near me, but that’s a good deal if I did. The other articles; well, I know far too many people who have nothing to fall back on if their paycheck quits, and I myself wouldn’t have bunches, although I’m working to change that! I loved the woman who won the big prize money. The Stuff article — all I could say was AMEN. Then I started thinking….
When I was younger, we had one phone. One TV. One vehicle. One refrigerator. One vacuum. Now we have 2 house phones and two cellphones, three TV’s, three vehicles, two refrigerators and two vacuums (one upstairs and one downstairs). Good heavens, that article was about ME.

I took advantage of the Costco deal (I already had a Living Social account, from many years ago). I can’t wait to try it, so many people I know shop there.

Saw that deal on LS this week. Kinda made me wish I wasn’t already a Costco member. After I slapped myself upside o’ my head, I realized that being a Costco maven for over 20 YEARS has saved me a ton more than this offer. I’m glad it will introduce new people to the awesomeness that is Costco. And AMEX rebate checks come out later this month, yippee!

BTW, don’t forget to CASH the rebate check. If you apply it to a purchase, you miss out on the rebate, and we all know those pennies add up. Yes, Costco will give you crisp dead presidents, right at the checkstand. Should you forget to cash your check, member service will be happy to do it for you. #askmehowiknow.
