Thankfulness

Today I am thankful for:

  • The health and welfare of my family.
  • A roof over my head which includes a safe and functioning kitchen.
  • The ability to walk into a grocery store and buy all the food I both need and want.
  • A safe neighborhood.
  • A stable job which pays me a living wage.
  • The ability to see my way through life’s challenges.
  • Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, cranberry sauce, rolls and pie. Always the pie.

Always the pie.

How about you? What are you thankful for?

I am thankful that:
1) I was born in Scotland
2) I live in a country where access to medical treatment is free and a right and doesn’t depend on your wallet.
3) I have an understanding husband
4) I have a family that I love
5) I’m not a turkey

I am so thankful to have a lovely husband and children that love me, that I was born into a country with a stable government and good human rights, for a stable job and all the comforts I have been blessed with , for the absolute beauty of the natural world and the opportunities I get to view and live in it.

For a loving husband, for a safe home, for all my faculties (so far), for financial security (due to thrift), for good friends. Happy Thanksgiving!

My husband, the food, running water and being a woman in a country where I can go to school, read what I want (and drive!).

After hoofng it across a few states and carrying everything I own on my back I realize that having shelter from the cold, heat, and rain, fresh water to drink and shower, enough food to sustain me, clothes for my body and shoes to protect my feet is all a person needs….every thing else is just gravy….and sometimes even a trap.

I am thankful for many, many things so here is a quick list:
-My husband, kids and the rest of my family. This year we are all healthy and able to be together, so I am more than grateful for that!
-Being able to turn on the heater a little and put on a sweater, when many are out in the cold today.
-My car. It is safe, reliable and the windshield wipers work – living in OR that is a must.
-Having access to insurance and healthcare for my children and I.
-Being able to make the choice to go to nursing school and having the means to do so while raising three kids.
-The Goodwill. It is so nice that I do not have to stress about affording the basics because I am happy to buy used. For $20 I just got got all three kids great new winter coats, rain boots and I even scored some Under Armor for each of them. Everything looks brand-new and the retail value would be around $150, which would have wiped out our monthly budget.
Happy Thanksgiving!

I love this.
I am thankful that my family and I are healthy. That we have a wonderful thanksgiving to eat with loving extended family. And that we have a working toilet with indoor plumbing. I know that sounds silly, but a lot of people in the world don’t have that!

I’m thankful I have no reason to participate in Black Friday.
