Today Show!

Update: It looks like my segment is going to be Thursday, not Monday! I’ll keep ya’ll posted as changes occur!

By the way, I’m flying out to New York to be on The Today Show. We shot the segment last Thursday, and I’ll answer questions about it this coming Monday, the 20th. (I may seem matter of fact about this, but in truth I’m bouncing off the ceiling.)

And in case you’re overwhelmed with feelings of how glamorous my life is, here I am hanging out in the Goodwill used shoes section with Today Show’s Kristen Dahlgren.

They’re lucky to have such an articulate, appealing guest for their show. Someone who has something useful and long-term to add to their audience’s lives.

Congratulations to you too!

Absolutely, gobsmacking fantastic! The questions just tumble out of my head: When do you leave; what airline; will they be putting you up a night or two; (and the question NEVER posed to men) what will you wear? This is where one of my all time favorite frugal quotations from Henry David Thoreau comes into play–“Beware of all enterprises that require new clothes”. You and HDT would probably have been very good friends. Congratulations and enjoy every memorable moment.

WAY cool! I hope we can see the segment after it airs. Are you going to be like the lady Jesse Arrington who did her TED talk on “Wear Nothing New”? She came to town with the clothes on her back and 7 pair of underwear and proceeded to outfit herself from local thrift shops for the entire week. She had a slide show of her various outfits which were very “fun” and talked about limiting one’s impact on the environment. I am guessing that whatever you wear, it might be a topic for discussion as to how you came by it. Can hardly await to “see” you!

Thank you everyone! It’s shaping up to be an awesome trip. I’ll actually be staying a few extra days in NYC, plus my amazing best friend Jennifer (who lives in New Hampshire) will be in NY in Sunday/Monday so we’re going to be able to hang out.

I am almost more excited about see her than anything else!

Yay for you and for the non-consumerism message! Now maybe everyone will flock to my vintage kitchenwares shop and buy all this stuff I have in my basement, instead of going to Bed, Bath, and Beyond. That would be nice.

Holy shoe section!! I’m seeing why you find so much good stuff just by the size and selection there is in the shoe section. Our is itty bitty in comparison.

Again, have a great time with your NY adventure!!

Just watched your segment and loved it. Would it be possible for you to put the websites mentioned by the other woman interviewed along with you? I’m disabled and do not drive, so being able to shop second hand online, outside of Ebay, would be great for me as well as others. The more options for savings the better.
