Today I Am . . .

Today I am . . .

Putting together eBay listings to start this evening, and wishing that the money from reselling was consistent enough to take over my stressful job.

Getting my husband to help load an extremely heavy vintage armchair into the car. My friend Sasha gave it to me a few years ago and now I’m giving it back to her as it became redundant after my love seat acquisition.

Dreading getting the kids up and off to school tomorrow with the horror that is daylight savings.

Going to a party for my husband’s soccer team, and appreciating that there will be free food.

Enjoying that I spent time with my older son last night watching library copies of Little Miss Sunshine and Ted, and remembering that we were once completely satisfied with library movies and TV shows.

Getting excited about our upcoming trip to Washington D.C. and New York. Not only is everything comped for the D.C. portion of the trip, (airfare for the adults, plus food and housing for all) but my husband will get paid for the days he misses because it’s a work related event! And for the NYC portion, I’m already setting up some great stuff, like free Museum of Modern Art passes thanks to an old college chum! (Normally tickets are $25 apiece!) Hooray for my husband being given a national award!

Mad at my neighbor’s contractor and at myself. He parked his truck slightly blocking my driveway, which meant that I very carefully backed out making sure to not scrape my minivan along his truck. Because I was so focused on his truck/my car I somehow didn’t notice my other neighbor’s little Prius, which I then hit. The thing that pisses me off is that he had earlier mentioned how he was blocking my access, yet didn’t move it because I was walking errands at the time. Grrr . . .

Now your turn. What are you doing today?

One advantage of being a church-goer is that I already had the ‘pleasure’ of dragging my kids out of bed early this morning, so hopefully it will be easier tomorrow for school!

Finished painting the kitchen ceiling yesterday and hubby installed the new light and radiator. Also went to Sam’s club and picked up a few items for next weekend’s St. Patrick’s Day party. We successfully came home and ate lunch at home rather than out.

Oh and sorry to hear about your neighbor’s car. I would be angry at the contractor too.

Today is an eBay day here as well. We went to an auction Friday night & picked up a couple of box lots with a few goodies during the Early Bird component so I’ll get those items posted today & package a recently sold item to get into the mail tomorrow. I always focus on boxes full of little items – it’s like going on a treasure hunt. 🙂

Today we are celebrating my 19 year old daughter’s birthday with homemade cupcakes.

We have loaded the car with 7 boxes of books in preparation for our trip to Half-Priced Books tomorrow. We got the books free from a friend whose mom moved to assisted living. They were happy to have us take them off their hands.

I am rearranging the mantle in honor of Daylight Savings…to focus on the increased daylight hours. I am switching out the winter themed art for more houseplants and vases of forced red-twigged dogwood and forsythia from the yard. No cost involved. Trying to dispel the cabin fever after a very long winter here in northern Ohio!

I am beginning my spring cleaning…mopping my hardwood floors with Murphy’s Oil Soap. I love that clean scent!

Today I spent a rather boring 5 hours at a fleamarket. I would have hated it if my daughter had not ended up meeting some friends and had a really nice time.

So I was able to give my daughter a super playdate, while earning some pocket money for the kids by selling their old possessions. And I even found some beautiful vintage duvet covers, which I will turn into childrens’ clothes.

And daylight saving has luckily not started in Germany yet…

Katy, I backed into a friend’s car yesterday too… tight Boston street, and I was feeling happy to finally see the sun after a long winter. So, I dropped off her sweet boy, and proceeded happily backward into her [hidden] car. You are not alone.

Today we went to an awesome (free) recital at the local college. It was a great way to spend the afternoon (even if I did feel like I had jet lag after the time change. 🙂 We will be doing more of that in the future. Good concerts for free…. So sorry the Prius got hit. That would tork me but good, too… :p

Driving down the very beautiful albeit foggy Oregon Coast on vacation with my hubby. Stopped in Astoria and had a good workout walking through town and then up the hill to the Astoria Column, and then up all the steps of the column to take in the view. Did a bit of shopping at an outlet mall (not too much but do enjoy the “no-tax” of shopping here) and had a frugal picnic lunch of cheese, crackers and fruit at Cannon Beach. All in all a great day!

Did you know you can “pay what you wish” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Natural History Museum? Like $1 is OK, or nothing. I have small kids so we’d never be able to pay $20+ per person to go spend 1-2 hours at these great museums. I’m sure there are more with the same rule. Fantastic!
