Today I Am . . .

Dog

Today I am . . .

  • Staying at my sister’s apartment in Manhattan.
  • Walking my sister’s dog.
  • Visiting with my sister’s in-laws who just filled her fridge with homemade chicken soup and various goodies. (Yum!)
  • Going on a Sweatshop Workers tour at the Tenement Museum, which also includes an extra discussion period.
  • Meeting up with an old college chum, as he gets free Museum of Modern Art Tickets, meeting up with old friends and arranging other various meet ups.
  • Completely happy with the Bolt Bus trip we took yesterday from Washington D.C. to New York City. My husband was extremely skeptical with this choice, but he ended up being pleasantly surprised with the experience.
  • Wishing it wasn’t so freaking cold.

Now your turn. What are you doing today.

Going to see Jersey Boys tonight – the ticket was my Christmas present from my husband.
Having a food hangover from a potluck dinner I went to last night where I ate entirely too much good food.
Prepping a room to paint over this supposed rainy weekend.
Wishing it wasn’t so freaking cold also!
Enjoy your vacation Katy!

Went walking with a friend then she fed me lunch at a restaurant owned by her family. In return I gave her some produce I bought at a good price at ALDI, including a giant pineapple that I know her son will love.

I made some pumpkin bars using a large can of pumpkin I bought on clearance for $.75 (out of season meant a great deal).

I took chicken thighs I cooked a few weeks ago out of the freezer for dinner tonight. They were on sale at the time, and anitbiotic free. I will serve them with leftover garlic mashed potatoes I made two days ago (to use up potatoes and garlic that were sprouting), a vegetable, and fresh pineapple ($1.39 for a large pineapple at ALDI the other day).

I’m sorry you hit our unseasonably cold weather. We have been freezing in the Mid-Atlantic region for many months and we don’t like it any better than you do.

Sounds like a perfect day…aside from the cold.

Today I am organizing clothing, donating a lot of clothes to Safe House, dying a T shirt that is bleach speckled and washing 2 “new to me” metal and mesh patio chairs. And after all this, a trail walk in the misty weather.

Enjoy your vacation!

So glad you’re going to the Tenement Museum. It is one of the best museum experiences in the city.

If you can stop by the Cathedral of St John the Divine (Amsterdam Ave & West 110 ST) you’ll see a fantastic exhibit of Xu Bing’s Phoenix, sculptures assembled entirely out of found construction materials. http://www.stjohndivine.org/programs/art/upcoming-exhibitions

Sadly, I was unsure whether my son would want to come so I only bought a single ticket. My so then decided to come and by then the tickets were sold out, so I ended up getting a refund. I had to steel my emotions as I felt like I could easily have started crying.

Sounds like your trip has been lots of fun.
I am relaxing after a busy day of cooking for others.
Baked two cakes in thrifted bundt and tube pans that I love!
Crocheting a baby blanket for a friend.
Looking forward to a busy Friday!

Sounds like you are having a great trip! I am sipping my coffee reading blogs for a few minutes before I finish getting ready for the work day, then will be hoping on the bus to head downtown for work. Looking forward to a weekend with no set plans.

Just an FYI in regards to the Bolt bus and using it close to home… My husband and son have taken it from Seattle to Portland and were pretty happy with it. So if you ever need to head up north for a little trip you can try it out up here too!

Sounds like you are having an amazing trip! I am enjoying fabulous muffins that Maya baked, drinking tea (trying not to be too miserable about the bad cold I came down with yesterday). Also dreaming of a summer trip to London.
