Happy 70th Birthday, Grandma Susan!

Today is my mother's, Susan Stanley's 70th birthday. Let's all wish her a happy birthday in the comments section!

And that tiara? It's a loaner from a neighbor. Because I'm frugal like that.

  1. Happy birthday to you, Susan!

(We celebrated my mom -- who you may remember? -- 's 70th birthday this summer with all the kids & grandkids in attendance. It was wonderful.)

May you and your family have many more happy events to celebrate together.

  2. HaPpY bIrThDaY, Susan! Woohoo!!! And if your sweet daughter had not outed your age, no one would have been able to guess which milestone you are marking. 70? No way!

  3. Would NOT have believed you are 70 if I hadn't heard it from a reliable source! Happy Birthday, Susan, and many more!

  4. Holy crap. I can only hope that when I'm 70? I look that good. Your mom doesn't look a day over 50. 😉

    Happy birthday, Susan!

  5. Happy Birthday Susan - you look wonderful! I am "only" 60 but sure hope to look as lovely and serene as you do when I am 70! 🙂 Many happy returns...

  6. Happy birthday Susan, hope you have a great day. You certainly look like you're dressed up to have some fun :0)

  7. I hope you know how much your daughter enriches the lives of others...her blog is so helpful and inspiring! I read it regularly and find her so grounded and witty. From one mother to another, I am sure you are very proud. Then there is her "day" job, bringing babies into the world...talk about influence! Happy birthday on your special day!

  8. Happy, happy day, Susan. I can't believe you are 70! It must be all that time you spent in NE getting that degree! Karen from NE

  9. Is this a current picture?! Your mom looks at least 20 years younger than 70. Happy birthday, Mrs. Katy's mom! You look mah-velous!

  10. Happy birthday! Sign me up as another person who wouldn't have put you at 70, but rather 50-ish. Do people mistake you and Katy for sisters?

  11. I see the family resemblance between Katy and her Mom, and I have to add my comments along with all the others who say Susan does not look 70, absolutely no way does she look 70, I want to know her secret!!! How about a "guest" post from Grandma Susan??!!

  12. Many, many thanks to Katy's many, many blog readers for all your kind birthday cyber-hugs! I've been overwhelmed by all the love and attention received on this milestone, much of it generated by my dear daughters, Jessie and Katy, and my husband, Sam.

I'm grateful for so many things in my life, and am -- of course -- impressed and SO proud of what Katy continues to do with her Non-Consumer shenanigans. (The Today Show? I mean, WOW!) As I read each blog entry, along with the comments it generates, I realize how much she influences and inspires readers around the world. The qualities she exhibited in childhood shine through in the amazing work she continues to do in adulthood. She inspires me!
