Today I am . . .
- Oohing and ahhing over the enormous beanbags scored by Trish from Modern Thrifter.
- Enjoying the luxury of a nice lie in. Thanks to President’s Day, there is no school, and blessedly no soccer games.
- Going to delve into the blog archives of Little Green Notebook, which just won Apartment Therapy’s Homie award. (In two categories, no less!) I’d heard of this blog before, but had assumed it was about green living, (which can be dull and preachy.) However, the blog is about creative decor, which is my cup of tea lately. And let me tell you, Jenny Komenda is addictively creative. Katy like.
- Looking forward to an afternoon spent thrifting and movie watching with my mother and the kids.
- Going to either A) Do laundry or B) Wear my wedding dress. The clean clothing situation around here is pathetic.
- Planning a good declutter from our attic space for tomorrow. I work twelve-hour shifts on Wednesday and Thursday, so it’s tomorrow or not until next week. (I’ll spend Friday catching up from what I missed while I was at work.)
- Feeling guilty about ordering pizza last night, although I did have a BOGO coupon, so the two large pizzas were $13.95 plus $2 tip.
- Still staring at my built-in buffet surround and my Marimekko lampshade.
- Wishing the sun would come out, as I have some spray painting projects that are itching to get completed.
Now you, what are you doing today?

Did it work? Are you fixed now? 😉
Katy

Today I have planting a climbing rose that was at my sisters house. My brother-in-law is losing the home. My sister died 2+ years ago, still miss her desperately. She always loved this rose .
So, now when I look out my front I will see something she loved!
p.s. If the deer don’t eat it LOL
what a lovely way to remember her.
Today I:
(1) Finished a book review for the Jane Austen Society of North America national newsletter. Remember Mr. Collins reading Fordyce’s Sermons to the Bennet family? I got to review a new reprint of Fordyce. ;.)
(2) Returned bottles and cans for deposit at a former hole-in-the-wall container return place and discovered that it has been taken over by one of our local thrift shop chains. Thrift shop charity gets a cut of the bottle deposit (and you can choose to donate your cut as well). Cool!
(3) Went to an outpost of the other major local thrift chain. Found a few things, but realize I have been overfishing this store lately and need to give it a rest.
(4) Carried out mending project on pair of jeans I got last week for a friend at (3) thrift store’s half-price tag day before I realized that a belt loop had ripped loose. Sewed denim patch on wrong side of jeans, then sewed loose end of belt loop through right side to patch. Hope friend appreciates this. ;.)
Hi there –
Did you see the marimekko Fatboy bean bags?

I enjoy your blog, came via somewhere, not sure. I’m up in Bham. I am a frugalist/minimalist-(ish)/saver but do have wants and desires that I quash, am retraining myself to have less wants and less stuff.
Cheers, Kit
I have seen those, and they are rather wonderful.
I like the dog bed made by Daniel from Manhattan Nest:

I’m just a sucker for a good DIY.

Today I finished my latest project which frees me to start another and spent time with my grand children. I too am missing the warm weather and have a couple projects that need spray painting. Can’t wait for summer.
Well Today I slept part of it away trying to get rid of a cold lol. But when I was up i cleaned the house the best I can. We just moved into a house some friends had bought to fix up and flip and they needed some help so sense we are inbetween houses right now it was a perfect opportunity for us. So Today we got the well house all cleaned up and ready for the well man to come in the morning to fix it. Then we worked out in the yard some cleaning it up. The people that lived here before litterly destroyed the house inside and out, and had trash everywhere, burn piles of garbage everywhere, so I am in the process of getting all cleaned up. There are tons of aluminum cans as well, so my 17 yo daughter is collecting those and is going to cash them in and use the money to go towards her Letterman’s Jacket and patches.
I cleaned out I think was a dog pen(s) or for some small animal of some sorts pen I am going to use it for My baby chicks that are to big to go in with the big ones but to small to be in my chick brooders, I have another pen I need to move and get set up that I brought from our other house.
So, most of my day was spent outside and if the weather is nice tomorrow I am going to be staking out the big yard area for the chickens, and going to our feed store to get feed for them and the horses and dogs and hopefully pick me up a few small chicks of the breeds that I need.
Cooking!
It was supposed to be a schoolwork day, but my husband decided to fix the server–and I unexpectedly found myself offline for most of the afternoon (and now online at midnight!).
So I had every excuse to bake muffins, make freezer burritos, go for a walk, and lazily think about pruning the apple tree.
Spent today cleaning out my mother-in-law’s condo, day 10. She has gone to live in an assisted living facility. Cannot believe how much stuff she had. Tooks lots to Habit for Humanity and lots to the dumpster. She does have lots of cool stuff as well, will sell on ebay since no one in the family seems to want it. It’s been a very emotional 10 days, walked around her empty condo today thinking about all the times we spent in the pool, celebrating birthdays, holidays and of course sad times as well. Lots of memories.
Well, it’s a day late but yesterday I was…
Hosting a playdate
Grocery shopping
Unpacking groceries that my son tried to “help” bag (ie: canned goods on top of produce)
Today I am…
Cleaning my house
Making fruit smoothies with said produce
Enjoying some unexpected sunshine
Ooh . . . we have sunshine here too!
