Today's Frugal Thing is Nothing But Socks!

My sister is a master knitter and makes a pair for me every few years, including the above purple pair. Sadly, the wool on this particular pair is the worst, (yes that's a wool pun) and they began disintegrating as soon as I started wearing them.
Luckily I have thrifted bags of darning wool and am somewhat of a darning whiz.
Isn't this better? The wool will tightly felt up once the socks go through the washer and dryer.

And since I was once again darning these damned socks, I figured I might as well attack my entire mending pile. Which I did, that is until I grew nauseous from the close up work.

It really was the perfect day to darn socks as it was cold and drizzly and I swear the sun went down around 3:30 P.M.

My favorite part of my darning marathon is that I used my recently thrifted maraca instead of my official darning egg, as the shape was rounder and the lighter color made it easier to see the weaving. Plus more fun to shake.

Hopefully I can get a couple wears out of these socks before I have to start a new mending pile!
Now your turn, what frugal things have you been up to?
