Three Frugal Things -- "Whole worlds springing to life from nothing more than squiggles on a page"

1) I'm having lots of people to the house tonight to celebrate my mother's 84th birthday. Of course my goal is to serve delicious food that doesn't empty my bank account. Also, I'm always looking to avoid time consuming meal prep that leaves me frantic at the last minute.
Enter Struggle Meal's "Asian chicken marinade." Easy to make and it comes together from ingredients I generally keep on hand. All I need to do is pick up some boneless chicken thighs, (plus tofu as one guest is vegetarian) and I know it'll be a crowd pleaser.
You can see from the spattered recipe card that it's not my first time to make this recipe!

2) My friend Lise texted this morning to ask if I wanted to walk with her to the credit union and "mug library." My day is busy, (please refer to "frugal thing #1) so instead we've scheduled tomorrow for this particular adventure.
A rich and satisfying social life doesn't have to cost a single thin dime. Sometimes it's as simple as walking errands and chatting with an old friend.

Maybe I can even convince her to take a library detour to pick up my latest hold!

3) As promised, I completed my library copy of Kate Quinn's The Astral Library, (so good!) and find myself inspired to share a specific quote:
"What a miraculous thing a book was, when you stopped to think about it: whole worlds springing to life from nothing more than squiggles on a page."
Literacy. We take it for granted that "whole worlds can spring to life from nothing more than squiggles on a page." The ability to read and write is truly an amazing skill for humanity and something I normally take for granted.
Squiggles on a page.
Now your turn, what frugal things have you been up to?

So cool you're hosting a dinner for your Mom. That is respect and love!
I am making chicken fajitas, beans, rice, Pico and a 7 day curtido for Community Dinner. I found a recipe for pumpkin Texas sheet cake with Brown sugar butter cream frosting. I'm used your trick of poking holes in the cake, frosting while warm, letting it cool and piping more frosting for a finish.
I get what you mean that socializing doesn't have to cost a thing, itself is priceless time with friend(s). That was the whole reasoning behind daily yoga. Open invite, all levels are welcome and encouraged. Does it sometimes lead to tea and a sweet? Sure!
And entire communities are built from squiggles on a webpage!
Thanks for all that you do, Katy.
