Back From Japan

by Katy on May 8, 2012 · 25 comments

I am finally home from my two week trip to Japan. I had a fantastic time, and although I’m apparently not quite ready to write at any length, I do have a couple of photos to share.

Here I am with my host family at the end of my stay in Japan.

Don't you love the apron that this Japanese potter woman is wearing?

Because it's the mending job that melted my heart.

Glad you are back! Can’t wait to hear about it, once you’re settled back in. Enjoy sleeping in your own bed. 😉

Yes, I am enjoying my own bed! The futon that I slept in while with my host family was around 3/4″ thick. And even though it was on soft tatami mats, my own pillow top mattress is kinder to my 44-year-old bones.

Wow! I missed you. for real.. Thought of you when my family won tickets to a 3D movie. Except we found out the cinema was 50 miles away. By the time we spent the time and gas it wasn’t free. What do you think? We didn’t go. What would the non-consumer have done?

One of life’s enduring mysteries: why japanese folks in photos often make the peace sign, or is it something else?

I suggested that your husband and other son attend maximum number of Timbers games and eat out a lot in your absence. Hope you didn’t mind.

glad you’re home safe

I love the peace sign. You know, cause peace is good. 😉

And the boys took your advice. I think they enjoyed our absence more than they should have.

We missed you! I do so love that apron. Maybe I should pull my son’s worn sweatpants out of the rag bag….
