Enjoying The Wiggle Room

Swimming in a field of wheat!

There are four days left in the July Food Stamp Challenge, (woo-hoo!) and I am feelin’ fine, because I am trying to spend under $404 for the month, (the average Oregon food tamp recipient received $101 per month) and we’ve spent:
$321.73!
Which means that I still have $82.27 of wiggle room left in my budget.
My fridge is full of great food, my freezer is stuffed with strawberry jam and recent unflattering photos show indicate I am getting umm . . . more than enough nutritious vittles.
Yup, life is good.

That is so something I would do….”swimming in a field of wheat” and my kids wouldn’t think it’s weird either cuz it’s my normal! haha!

Glad your doing so good with the challenge, I didn’t make it, not even close. I am trying again in August when things are a little more settled down!!

We only have a day and half left. We spent every penny of our budget. And as the food in the fridge is dwindling, I’m reminded of how eye opening this experience has been.

And someow, surprisingly, I’ve lost 4 pounds this month.

Girl, you are a total inspiration — you make this look simple, enjoyable, a totally sane way to live! Great job 😉

Katy, your efforts have been admirable, creative, self-controlled and it is additionally admirable that your family has been on board with your goals. Except for the Clif Bars, of course, but it seems as if you have “made it” even with that blip.

What I find most remarkable is that, rather than blowing the balance of your fund on a wild feast of all you have been craving, you are giving the balance away to the food bank. That is wonderful.

Thank you for your fine example of humanity.

Am loving your blog and have told many of my non-consuming friends (the consumers would not be interested!) to follow you. One friend told me this morning about a book that has become her “Bible” – Less Is More by Goldian vandenBroeck, which I believe she read about on your blog. She is sending it to me from Amazon. Enjoy your jam!

That’ll buy some Clif bars AND some beer. C’mon, you can do it!

Worry not, Gerard. Dale heard there was wiggle room and it was nanoseconds before he brought home a sic pack of nice Portland beer.

No complaints from me either!
