The following is the first in a hopefully long series of readers’ fabulous frugal finds. Thank you very much to Jinger, whose lovely outdoor furnishings set her back a mere $4.

“Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.”
I have a small porch that overlooks a nature preserve. One day when I was browsing at St. Vincent DePaul’s, I noticed 2 patio chairs hidden away behind some other items. I asked the price $2.00 each…lucky me. These are 2 Brown Jordan vintage chairs! A few weeks after when I was at my son’s apartment, I noticed a table outside his neighbor’s door and asked if I could buy it…he gave it to me! With a porch chaise purchased from overstock and thrift store items for wall decor, my outdoor room was complete. It is my place of refuge…an oasis right in the heart of the city!

I love your porch Jinger! Excellent job with the frugal finds. It looks like a lovely place to relax.
Great feature Katy. It will be so fun to see people’s frugal finds. I love the resourceful and creativity involved.
Very great finds!! A few months ago, we spent about $75 buying a wood bistro set for our patio because we were staging the home to sell. It had to be done in one day, I didn’t have time to look around and search out a good deal. That was frustrating. At least the house sold! So wonderful job, Jinger. What a peaceful view.
What a wonderful job. Looks like it could have been an ad in a catalog, it fits so well together. I envy your “summer room” and its overlook. Good for you!
We got a table and 4 chairs off of Freecycle a couple of summers ago, and they fit very well on the back porch. Gotta love free!
Katie-
I really enjoy your blog. congratulations on your finds. I am working on three treasures right now. One is a wicker set for my grandkids, it needs paint and cushions. It is a setee couch, a table and two chairs, kid size, a flea market find. Second is a step stool with character, soon to be a plant stand for my bathroom, it needs paint, a yard sale find, and last but not least a step stool for the grand kids free because my husband’s dad made it for him as a child. Paint for all three projects was $70.00 at home depot but it will give me experience and be a creative outlet as well. Thanks for all your hints. A faithful reader!

Alas…my lovely vintage chairs have lived out there life. One is totally gone and the other is in its way. I’m hoping some other chairs come my way soon.
