Happy new year from The Non-Consumer Advocate!

I started this blog back in May of this year, when there was next to no talk of a recession, and layoffs weren’t front page news. I would love for my writings on frugality and simple living not to be so timely, but I’m happy to have found so many readers. Thank you to everyone who has forwarded my blog to friends and family, keep it up!

My goals for 2009 include moving The Non-Consumer Advocate from a blog to a website that will have more functions. (I would still write daily, which I absolutely love!) I’m also starting to think about putting together a book proposal. (Although this is still just an infant of an idea.)

Personal resolutions include organizing and de-cluttering the house. (I just drove back from Seattle this evening, and am viewing the house with fresh eyes, which is not always a good idea.) I also want to put a better effort into eating well and exercising. Just because I hate the diet industry, is not a reason to let myself go!

So what are your goals and resolutions for 2009? Please share your ideas in the comments section below.

Decrease my spending even more while increasing the quality of my life. I think it can be done.

Getting in control of spending while finding ways to balance the needs vs. wants of my family.
Paying myself first on payday (saving away).
Planning more simple, regular gatherings with dear friends, and making new friends.

Waste less… food, money, daylight hours, sleepy time hours, quality time with family. To make more out of everything I currently have.

Happy New Year from Seattle (where we have a dusting of snow yet again)!

Lose the weight I gained last year, go for walks, sell our house or at least stop obsessing about it, go to a cash system for buying groceries, be more patient with my son, be more forgiving with my parents, spend more time with my husband.

I will be pretty busy in 2009!

I’m hoping to eat healthier and take better care of myself (I have various health issues). Also, I want to find new ways to save for my family and get them all enlisted in helping. I’d also like to get the guts to go to Goodwill and snoop around. I wear a Women’s size clothing and I’d love to find new clothes. Maybe I’ll get there soon… Hints?

My resolutions are: to send a hand written birthday card to everybody who’s important to me, to ride my bike a lot more, to save more money, always take the stairs at work, and continue getting enough sleep.

Viki, the Goodwill stores in my area put plus sized clothing on its own rack, so you don’t have to root through a ton of stuff. I go to Goodwill all the time–it really doesn’t require any guts at all.

As for myself I don’t make resolutions. They are too easy to break. I prefer to call them “goals”. My goal this year is to turn off the TV and read. I have books I bought years ago with good intentions. I plan on dusting them off, opening them up and even reading them. I bought my husband a book for Christmas ( because I wanted to read it ) Well, he read it in one day and it wasn’t a thin book. If I completely read even one book I will consider that reaching my goal! ( kind of sad )

I would like to turn off the TV and do something else, too! Enough of the external noise already! And pay off bills! It would be great to only have the mortgage, I think I can do that within the next six months!

of course if you did do a book we would have to wait until it turned up in second hand bookshops!!
