The Compact, It’ll Make You Blush!

by Katy on February 13, 2012 · 45 comments

Want to watch me talk about The Compact and also blush like a schoolgirl? Well, then you’re in luck!

Seriously though, thank you very much to Shellie Bailey-Shah, who came to the house to interview me about The Compact. My favorite part? How they animated my blog logo.

Groovy!

You looked and sounded great! Yay! I liked the way the piece presented your choices as normal not weird or exaggerated.

I liked this, too. I hate when shows try to make it extreme.

Not only do they make it sound normal, they make it sound wonderful (which it is)! It was a great spot, and I loved how Katy explained the role patience plays.

You did great Katy! I agree with Cate, I like the way your choices were presented as normal living to save money, instead of potraying your choices as weird. Would love to see how the challenge works out with one family not spending anything for an entire month.

That was a great piece and helpful for many who need to find new ways to think and live in order to reduce debt, etc. I hope to see more videos in the future. Wonderful job and congratulations!

All I could think was, “I wonder if she broke down & had to clean before the piece.” 😉 Your house looks gorgeous…and spick & span!

Love it, especially the logo’s sound effects. Quite a Valentine for you and your readers. I hope you see a nice uptick in traffic as a result. LOL – is the blogosphere the only place where heavy traffic is a good thing?

Wonderful piece! I loved not only that it made your choice seem reasonable (not crazy-weird), but also it showed your beautiful home so people aren’t thinking you’re living a frugal life in a shack somewhere. Bravo!

Keep spreading the word. Just watched one of those makeover TV shows – they redecorated a living room (yes, just one room) for $18,000! Not in my reality! People need to know that there are other choices!

I think your map blinds idea could totally be marketed and sold. They look really professional, and there are a lot of people who really dig maps, like my husband. Enjoyed seeing it here, since I would not have caught the tv clip! Yes, the sweater seemed familiar.

Your blog has certainly inspired me Katy. Yesterday I had some free time to myself and I chose to go to a local thrift store. This was only my third visit there and the first time without kids so I really had time to see all that was available. I ended up buying two purses for myself b/c my current one is too big and started to wear out — it cost me $25 new at Target. The two used purses – which both look like brand new set me back $3 each. AND I’m _really_ picky about items like that so since I loved them both (pretty unusual for me) and it was only $6 bucks for both I went for it! I also looked at the shoe rack — the first time I’ve ever thought about really buying used shoes. I saw SEVERAL pairs that I like — I was so surprised…sadly none of them were the right size, but I will def. be checking out the shoe rack the next time I go to buy clothes.

Thanks so much for your blog Katy. You have helped to change my life for the better!!

Thanks. I also filmed a piece about Frugal Gardening that aired in the fall, yet sadly it didn’t get a link on the website. I wish I could share that one with you guys as well. It was funny because it was filmed outside and started ranging pretty hard in the middle of shooting. But the piece was edited and out of order, so it flashes quickly between me with normal/dry hair and me with wet hair plastered to the side of head.

Great piece. Got me thinking – how do you non-consumer around technology, especially with two growing boys, a husband and a blog?
