Why it's Important to Look Through Japanese Manga Comics, or How I Spent my Day in Seattle

I am spending the weekend visiting my sister up in Seattle.

Today we:

  • Walked her dog three times.
  • Went to the main Seattle Goodwill and bought a dozen nice wooden hangers, a cool shirt for my 11-year-old son and three Japanese manga comics.
  • Stopped my sister from accidently buying pornographic manga for my older son.
  • Met up with an old college friend to see the movie “The Fantastic Mr. Fox” with the kids, (which was fabulous!)
  • Made a simple dinner.
  • Met up with another old college friend to see his new house.

What I didn’t do:

  • Write anything for the blog.

Have a great day, see you tomorrow.

When I worked at the local library we (thought) we were fortunate to get 3 HUGE boxes of like-new manga donated. We started going thru them so they could be cataloged and added to our collection and discovered that they were pornographic! We were all very, very surprised and they did not end up being added to our manga section (though they were snatched up quickly at our next book sale). Good thing your sister checked them out first before purchasing. Good check.
