A Spontaneous Trip To Seattle

I went up to Seattle this weekend to visit my sister Jessica. It was completely unplanned, and a lot of fun.

Because of soccer games, we didn’t end up leaving until Saturday afternoon, and left for home right after dinner on Sunday.

We went to The Pacific Science Center, and then to The Experience Music Project/Science Fiction Museum today. This was great because she has a membership to one, and I have a member ship to the other. So with the exception of the $10 to park, (gulp!) the day’s edu-tainment was free. Add a bawdy street performer, and the day was complete.

Yes, it would have been better to not have the 3-1/2 hour drive two days in a row, but it actually afforded me some one-on-one time to chat with my 13-year-old son, which was fun. He has a wicked sense of humor. It’s not always school appropriate, but it sure is Katy-appropriate.

We ate all meals in.

So . . . .

  • A free place to stay.
  • Free museum entrance.
  • Free food.
  • $65 in gasoline.
  • Good company.

Thank you very much for the hospitality. I hope you enjoyed my hostess gifts of:

  1. A big zucchini, courtesy of my friend Nadine.
  2. A perfectly good garbage-picked Swiffer for you to crochet a mop-head for.

Now don’t you wish you could host The Non-Consumer Advocate?

Oh, how fun! I look forward to the day when my kids are old enough for me to do stuff like that. My youngest is 2, so I can’t just pack up and go quite yet!
