Gotta tell you this story from our garage sale last weekend: A pair of newlyweds came up to our “cashiers’ table” with several items and announced proudly, “We’re nonconsumers! We’re trying not to buy anything new!” I beamed, told them about your blog (and spelled your name), cut them several generous deals on their purchases, and sent them on their way with blessings. So I hope I’ve snagged you a couple more readers the old-fashioned way.

And, BTW, the garage sale made us enough money for our plane tickets to Portland, where we’re flying at the end of October to attend the Annual General Meeting of the Jane Austen Society of North America (JASNA)! (I’m a life member of JASNA; my husband is attending as my companion–or my “accessory,” as one member described her DH last year.)

That is so funny! And I love that you’re spending your garage sale money to fly to Portland for a Jane Austen meeting. Win-win situation for sure.

I used my garage sale money from last summer towards sending my 14-year-old son to Japan. He had a blast, and the host family girl he stayed with is coming to stay with us on Sunday!

Yay Non-Consumerism! šŸ˜€
