Like Nate Berkus? How about Happiness? Well then, you’re in for a treat, as The Happiness Project’s Gretchen Rubin was recently a guest on The Nate Berkus Show talking about, what else? Happiness. She even does a happiness makeover on one lucky viewer.

Lucky duck!

I love your blog, I linked to it from “The Frugal Girl” and have been happily reading through your archives for a few weeks now. I am inspired to try new things and pick up things that I had kinda let fall to the wayside. ( I just might have to pick up some things to make my own sushi again instead of paying $6 at Fresh Market. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication.

Happy to have you as a new reader. There’s certainly lots to catch up on, 1000+ blog posts and counting!

And the best thing about homemade sushi is that even when it turns out all wonky, it’s still just as delicious. My fave tip is to take a reusable container to a Japanese restaurant and ask for “$3 worth” of wasabi and pickled ginger. It stays fresh in the refrigerator forever!

I read both the Happiness Project and Eat, Pray, Love last month. I have to admit that the latter made me even “sadder”. I knew I couldn’t pick up and go off to Italy 🙁 But at least with Gretchin’s book I was able to find little things to be happier about. Instead of cursing the dog in the neighbourhood that comes by our house, I go out and play fetch with my adopted dog, I gathered all the trinkets all over the house and now have a place for all those silly things, and the quote that I realized I was repeating was the “the days are long but the years fly by”. I couldn’t remember till I watched this clip where I had heard it in the past few months 🙂

Any old schmo can find happiness eating in Italy or lounging around having lots of “love” 😉 in Bali. It takes a real happiness-warrior to be happy at home!
