Hello, Clark Howard!

Clark Howard Katy Wolk-Stanley

I’ve written before about how I have many irons in the fire. I work part-time as a labor and delivery RN, I help my mother run her rental cottage business, I resell thrifted and curbside finds and of course I write The Non-Consumer Advocate. I’ve recently added another iron to the fire, which is that I’ve become a regular contributor to the Clark Howard website.

I’ve written two pieces so far, which regular Non-Consumer Advocate readers will recognize as very much my favorite soapbox issues:

Five Reasons Why Goodwill is Better Than Target

and

Extreme Frugal Advice Beyond Lose That Latte Habit

It’s fun to enter into this new writing partnership, and I’m looking forward to reaching new audiences. I respect Clark Howard and am always happy when my driving errands coincide with his radio show.

Frugally yours,

Katy Wolk-Stanley

Wow impressed! Clark is a fellow Atlanta native. (I like Dave Ramsey’s advice better though.)

I like his advice as well, although I would be waiting a very long time before Dave Ramsey reached out to my liberal Jewish self. 😀

Congrats to my fellow Portlander!

As a listener to Clark Howard and Dave Ramsey, I, too, appreciate Clark’s non-judgmental (not so faith-based) approach.

Clark is also much more apt to laugh at his own eccentricities.

Although I rarely go to Clark Howard’s website, I’ll do it more often now that Katy will be a contributor.
I will say that listening to Clark’s radio show has made me a total believer in Credit Karma AND in the wisdom of establishing a credit freeze.

Congratulations on another paying gig. I’m excited for you and know that it is well deserved.

I read one or two of his books years ago (borrowed from the library, of course) but have not paid attention to him recently. I guess that will change.

Great news, Katy. I have heard of Clark Howard, but have never listened to his radio show or gone to his website. I will surely pay more attention to him now!

Not to mention, if you must have trendy Target items, you can buy them new in package at Goodwill for huge discounts. Today in fact I bought a Target mobile device charger for a few dollars as my husband’s Christmas gift, something he has wanted for a while. It has a “stylish” design printed on it.

Congratulations! I am so happy for you! I’m loving the two articles you’ve submitted already. I just want you to know you’re inspiring me to try to find more ways to save and also find fun ways to bring in a little extra cash!

Congratulations! I’ll have to start reading his site, now. And thumbs up on both articles.

I must admit I like Target. The design aesthetic gives me so much creative inspiration. I often just walk through for creative ideas. The bedding section is so yummy as well as the kitchenware. If I had disposable income, I would spend it right there.

Anthropologie is another store that makes my heart sing. I often go in just to see the wonderful store decorations and sometimes I purchase a small soap that smells so good.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
