Welcome to Oregon! I Hope You Brought Your Umbrella

We are spending the week hosting a 15-year-old Japanese boy. On his to-do list was to drive up The Columbia Gorge, which we did on Sunday. I think this picture captures the freezing cold rain pretty well. I'll let you imagine the hail which was also there. Welcome to Oregon!

Was his family effected by the earthquake & tsunami? Hope he enjoys his time here, and it stops raining!
No. He is from Sapporo, which is Portland’s sister city and on the island of Hokkaido.

As a former Oregonian, that picture makes me homesick.
It rained every day of my two week vacation to Oregon last year, and I still cant wait to go back!
We are planning an Oregon trip in the next year or so. What is the best month to visit weather-wise?
July through mid-October are least rainy, but rain is character building. 😉

I hope he gets to drive it in the sunshine too! It’s a beautiful drive and one we take often since Grandma live in Vancouver and we live in Tri-Cities. I never tire of the view.
I love that photograph.
Thanks. I try to respect my kids’ privacy on the blog, so this picture worked out perfectly!

Sunny California has also been deluged. Our nearest reservoir here in the bay area is at 100 % capacity, which is quite nice, since we were expecting a drought this summer.
I hope you have a great time with your visitor. The photo brings back great memories of living in Lake Oswego 20 years ago, and wonderful trips exploring the Columbia Gorge. I miss beautiful Oregon!
A beautiful photo, even if it was a rainy day. I’m feeling nostalgic for Multomah Falls…
hey, we drove from western Kentucky to Louisville yesterday & went through some sleet then snow/rain. guess I’m telling you in case misery loves company. 😉
What a great photograph! BTW, I’m new here and have enjoyed the spirit and purpose of your blog 🙂
Thank you!
