100 Things on The Coffee Table Challenge!

100 Thing Challenge? I think I'll promote a 100 things on the coffee table challenge. Are you in?

I am having wonderful Sunday morning filled with unexpected sunshine, warm bagels and a lie down on the couch. The smell of coffee is wafting through the house, although I’m too couch bound to actually go get myself a cup.

On my to-do list today is to hit up the grocery store, oversee homework, return the RedBox video at Fred Meyer, (stocking up again on the it’s free-if-you-use-the-instore-coupon Colgate) but mostly just puttering around the house and neighborhood.

And guess what? I can live my simple life all the while owning decidedly more than 100 possessions!

I’m in for the “100+ things on my kitchen counters”.

Don’t forget the 100 things on your dresser challenge. Every stray button, earring and sock seems to end up on my dresser!

I can do one better…I’m hosting a “1000 things in your junk drawer” challenge. 😉

Hahaha, good one, Kristen. Now, THAT’S a challenge I can accept.

Is it bad if I am up to 3 junk drawers in the kitchen? Just asking LOL

Weirdly, my junk drawers are all super organized. It’s every freakin’ horizontal surface that bars my entrance into the “100 things club.”

And weirdly, my surfaces are pretty clean. It’s that darn junk drawer that gets me every time.

To be fair, a lot of that junk drawer disorganization is the fault of my children, who rifle through it without fixing the mess they make. lol

How about 100 Things on the Tiny Table Beside My Chair Challenge? Oh, yeah, one of the raccons entering directly above The Table took care of 98 of those things! And, I could go for 1000 things in the junk drawer challenge. Of course, that means I will have to start paring down items in there.

Ugh…how about 100 things in the backseat of my car. Seems to be a magnet for all kinds of stuff…and there never seems to be a good time to take them in the house and put them away.

I’m with you on the 100 things in the car. I’m looking for a business card that I know was on my front seat 3 or 4 days ago…..before I took the dogs for a ride and they got in the front seat when I ran in to a store. Taking the flashlight from my 2million thing junk drawer out to look for it right now because I need it first thing in the morning!!

HAHA- This seems way more realistic to me than the whole “100 things” thing! It’s like the more stuff I get rid of, the more stuff there is- tribble-like. I blame the hubby and 3 kids. 🙂

Yes I would have to agree… 100 in the junk draw (kitchen) I think i have a 1 1/2 junk draw……. its all that little stuff that you have no idea where to put, but its stuff you need, or might need……

Lately we’ve been talking about the “broken window syndrome” and how it seems to affect areas of my home.

If I let just one or two things pile up in a spot (e.g. the front hall, or my daughter’s closet), it doesn’t take long before that spot becomes filled with dumped Stuff. For example, the Halloween decorations were sitting the front hall, waiting for me to make a trip to the basement to put them away until next year. In the course of the day, many other things got piled on: my daughter’s soccer cleats, (filthy) shin guards and soccer socks, a space heater, 2 umbrellas, a pair of sneakers, a folded throw-blanket, and both kids’ backpacks.

It’s amazing how quickly it accumulates!

Yep…stuff breeds and reproduces if left unchecked.

And thank you, thank you, thank you for this post! As one of the great unwashed masses who live in the “real” world, I’ve felt a certain amount of envy and guilt towards the hundred things crowd. Simple living doesn’t necessarily equate to how few possessions you own.

I’m going to need a bigger coffee table to play, Katie. Or step up my stacking skills … 😉
