Non-Consumer Mish-Mash -- Truth in Advertising, Saltine Lamp & Free Chocolate!

Granola Bars

It's time again for Non-Consumer Mish-Mash, where I write a little bit about this and a little bit about that.

Slogans That Really Make Sense

I love clarity in advertising, which is why I found this Huffington Post piece to be absolutely hilarious! It's wonderful, and it's all absolutely true! My favorite: "Pizza Hut: We have a salad bar for some reason."

Goodwill Oddities -- They Never Cease

 Saltine Lamp

I know it seems like a shop a lot for someone who called herself "The Non-Consumer," but I promise you that I'm really not actually bringing all those Questionable-will finds into my home.

Having said that, I had a hard time not bringing home this $4.99 Goodwill vintage lamp. I think I may have made a grievous error.

Free Lindt Chocolate

I may not be a crazy coupon lady, but that doesn't mean that I don't keep an eye out for the good ones. So when Frugal Living NW posted about free Lindt chocolate bars, I clicked that link faster than Usain Bolt, my husband's grandfather who ran the steeplechase in the 1928 Olympics, Katy Wolk-Stanley on the hunt for free chocolate.

And best of all it's for Walgreen's and Rite-Aid, so it should work as a national deal. It's not good until November 3rd, but you should print the coupon A.S.A.P., so chop-chop!

    1. If you click on the link to Frugal Living NW, you can scroll down thru their posts, even to the previous page, and you will find it. There is a limit of one coupon, and I just tried this method after reading your comment. Go quick! 🙂

      1. I fixed the link, and if you print one, you can then print another by going "back" and then "forward" again.

  1. I still have a saltine box like that, and use it all the time -- keeps crackers edible much longer during muggy summers for us singletons who don't eat them all in one week.

    1. I have a Saltines tin as well. although mine's a bit newer. I did give this exact one to my sister as a gift though.

  2. I've got a metal Premium Saltines box that I still use for its intended purpose. I would never turn it into a lamp (and an especially bad lamp at that).

  3. Thanks for the chocolate coupon heads-up!! And that lamp would look awesome on a kitchen counter. Lamps are easy to repair or to make in the first place. I also found a tin like this at a yard sale but I sold it on eBay.
    Should have saved it!

  4. So, so many good phrases. I especially love the Apple, Target, Nike, and Instagram ones.

I was able to print out two coupons, which my 3 + 5 year olds saw and immediately claimed as their own. I will be making this trip while they are at school and taking a tip from my mother by hiding them...assuming my 3 year old stops climbing on top of the fridge to discover all of my "child proof" hiding spots.

  5. The Nature Valley one got me. As someone who eats a lot of the crunchy granola bars (because I have yet to find a granola bar recipe I like) I am very familiar with the crumbs everywhere phenomenon. I kind of want to hang that one up.
