Dirty Laundry — The Non-Consumer Souvenir
by Katy on April 1, 2014 · 12 comments
After a ten day trip, this will always be day eleven:
I bought zero souvenirs, brought home no new stuff and only overspent on experiences. But dirty laundry is oppressively omnipotent and ever present. It cannot be denied.
I only wish it was an April’s Fools day joke.

Maybe a new perspective?
I have heard of people who used the opportunity of doing laundry for their families to pray for each person as they handled their clothes.
It wouldn’t be a good strategy for everyone, but I thought I’d put it out there. 🙂
What a lovely gesture!
I always count my photos as my souvenir’s. They help me remember the experience’s better than any t-shirt or magnet will ever do.
I know your teenagers do their own laundry!
This laundry just needed to get DONE! A clean slate, and then the boys can start back up on doing their own laundry.

🙂
It’s not doing the dirty laundry that I hate, it’s folding and putting away the clean laundry! We ALWAYS have baskets of clean, unfolded clothes sitting around, but we almost never have baskets of dirty clothes.
Of course, part of that can be contributed to the fact that we cloth diaper. They make themselves known if you don’t do laundry at least every other day.
LOVE when I spend more on experiences and don’t bring any ‘stuff’ home! Ah, laundry, the bain of my existence. Glad you had a great time!
The laundry thing defies comprehension. DH & I will go away for a long weekend, and I wear the same pair of jeans or two and maybe two different shirts, and DH is about the same, and when we come home, we have the same sized stack of laundry you show in your photo!
If it makes you feel any better, I have a pile of laundry that size to process every day as a mother of 10 🙂
One word, “Yikes!”
Getting ready for a big trip myself, and my hairdresser today reminded me that that’s my future as well LOL.
