Grand Reveal — My Curbside Union Jack Table!

by Katy on November 9, 2012 · 37 comments

Can I please get a nice loud “Halleluyah?” Because I finally completed my makeover curbside table!

Remember? from HERE and HERE.

And my secret tabletop design  was . . .  a Union Jack! (Okay, it’s really more of an homage to the Union Jack, but why quibble about details?)

 Here’s a shot from above:

And here’s how adorable the table looks with the sides down.

I will later publish a post with all the nitty-gritty details, (hopefully with better pictures) but I love this table so much that I just had to share it in the here and now.

And by the way, I spent $3.65 on this entire project, which was the cost of a can of spray primer.

And just for fun, the obligatory before picture:

So, what do you think?

LOVE IT! But it’s not a union Jack… because it’s not on a ship (& the spacing is off, you can’t tell which way is up)… but, it’s gorgeous, I love it!

I’ll have to admit that I kinda cringed as I scrolled down past those lovely serene greens just waiting for the SCREAMING primary colors of the Union Jack to appear and disrupt things, and then was so pleasantly surprised. Nice job!

No red, white and blue colors in my house! Well, except for the kitchen, where I have an adorable vintage Union Jack tray up on a wall.

Halleluyah!! I love finding the beauty hidden in a curbside find. While they may not cost much to restore it is time consuming, but much fun getting to the finished project. Definitely a much improved piece of furniture.

Yes it was time consuming, but it was mostly a few hours here and a few hours there. Plus the process was way more entertaining to me than a movie or drinks out with the girls. 😉

Very nice– I like the colors….I’m in a rut—I seem to paint all my furniture finds black…..

That little table was so cute, it deserved to be rescued. And you did so beautifully. I was rather expecting red white & blue, but your chosen colour scheme goes beautifully with the rest of your decor. Well done!

You did us Brits proud Katy. What a fabulous table! Pop that in a vintage shop in London and you’d get back 100 times what it cost! Now that’s what I call ‘appreciation’!
(only one problem – am now feeling inspiring to start furniture projects… oh-oh!)

If you free handed those straight lines I’m jealous.

What?! That would be insane. I used painter’s tape, (which I cut length-wise to make it last twice as long.)
