Procrastination — A.K.A. How 42 is the New 10

by Katy on January 31, 2010 · 17 comments

I have a confession to make — I am a terrible procrastinator. When I visited my sister in Seattle last year and discovered the “Photo Booth” function on her computer, I remember saying to myself, “Boy, I’m sure glad I don’t have this function on my computer, or I’d never get anything done.”

Well, my husband bought a webcam for our computer and guess what popped up? Yup, it’s Photo booth, in its full glory.

So I may not have written a column today, so instead I present to you:

and

and

I may be 42 years old, but I often act my shoe size, which is ten. Simple living? I say silly living!

Gotta work on that procrastination thing.

Last I saw you, you were 10 and the pics aren’t that different. Thanks for sharing! They are great.

I didn’t know you when you were 11…I think I wasn’t born yet then. (runs to take cover).

You DO look really young, though.

I’m 51 and my son says I’m in my second childhood. 😉 What does he know??? I’ve never grown out of my first one!

I just had this realization the other day…When I was in high school, I think I viewed procrastination as some trait of adolescence that I would grow out of as an adult. Imagine my surprise when in college, I hadn’t miraculously outgrown it, or my first, second and third “real jobs,” or my second round of college at 28 when I still hadn’t outgrown it, or now, grad school…surprise surprise! I still procrastinate. Sigh…Someday I’ll learn. Really, I will!

I’m technically a teen…but I still play! I’m definitely about 10 at heart, to. (Well, sometimes–I can be pretty serious too.) Today a friend came over and we played with dolls. I collect dolls and they’re fun to play with, too. “You don’t stop playing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop playing” is one of my favorite quotes. Except I can’t remember who said it. Oh, well.

Well, I’ve known you since you were seven and you are still cute as a button. What I didn’t know, however, is how big your feet are – wow!

Deborah,

I was a size 9, but my feet got bigger after having kids. Blah!!!!

Me too. Well, I was an 8-and-a-half but now I’m a 9-and-a-half or 10. Those darn kids, they change EVERYTHING! (And I wouldn’t trade mine for the world.)

As for procrastination, well, I often say that it’s my middle name. Maybe I’ll get to work changing that…or, maybe I’ll wait until tomorrow. LOL.

it’s the wonderful spirit that keeps you young – and effects all of us – to stay young

I also wondered when I’d ever grow up – only time it feels weird is when my kids smile when I dance – but I love to dance, not like an “old lady” but the same as I did in the 60’s – we never will grow old (hope I never eat those words)

Katy you always make me chuckle. You have a wicked sense of humor woman! I have a camera on my new computer and eventually I will respond to this outrageousness with photos of my own ….after I track down one of my kids to explain how the camera works.
