What I’m Looking Forward to

by Katy on May 11, 2011 · 17 comments

A key component to a happy life is having things to look forward to. This might be as eventful as a family vacation or a simple as a highly anticipated book from the library. This is what I’m looking forward to:

It’s hard to tell in this photo, but these artichokes are HUGE! I bought them for 99ยข apiece at Trader Joe’s over the weekend. I’ve been busily working the past few days, but will cook them up later this afternoon to have with dinner. I am literally drooling in anticipation.
This is the current state of my living room. I may look like a candidate for “Hoarders,” but please rest assured that it’s simply my garage sale stash for this weekend. I will start categorizing and pricing Stuff later today, and am excitedly looking forward to to strangers taking it away while handing me money. After all, my motto is, “Crap out of the money, money in!”
Although I bemoan the rainy weather here in Oregon, it’s actually been quite nice to have planted a new lawn during the rainy season. (I’ve only had to water it once!) I am greatly looking forward to summers spent eating in the backyard, and doing some sweet and breezy entertaining.

What are you looking forward to?

Aw, love this sweet post. The first photo bought back my vivid dream of trying to teach my mom how to eat artichokes! My stash of stuff to sell looks even worse than yours.. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m looking for to my favorite art event tonight, “Dr. Sketchy’s” and a random weekend adventure in Miami, I embark on the 6-7 hour drive on Friday evening. I’ll write about Miami thrifting when I return next week.

As much as I don’t want him to grow up too quickly, I’m looking forward to Nate becoming a little older. Granted, he just turned 3, so he lacks a impulse control and we spend our weekend, keeping our kids apart. At almost 44, it’s exhausting!

I’m looking forward to a local cat/dog adoption center “garage sale” this weekend (and maybe even adopting another kitty), then next weekend is a Master Gardener expo/plant sale.

Looking forward to getting 2 cubic yards of compost as a thanks for some work I did at a local Waldorf School. It’ll go into our expanded garden, which I am REALLY looking forward to planting! Also just looking forward to summer. Been a loooong Vermont winter.

Is that huge bin of Lincoln Logs???? How much? Drat that you live in Oregon….I’ve wanted a set for my son for so long but have consistently struck out at garage sales. I don’t buy new. I’ll pay for shipping??? ๐Ÿ™‚

Stephanie, sadly my goal with all my Stuff is to get rid of it as simply as possible, so I won’t be mailing it anywhere. ๐Ÿ™

You should check on craigslist for your area though.

And Stephanie – post a WANT on Freecycle. Surely there’s someone with a lonely set in a closet near you. That being said, I felt an urge to get the Lincoln Logs too when I saw the picture… ๐Ÿ™‚

And Katy, thanks for the headsup re: TJ Artichokes! Went and got mine last night, along with BLACKBERRIES. They just make all things better.

Right now I look forward to coming home and working on my current painting, and taking a walk in the woods with my dog. In the slightly more long term, I’m looking forward to a convention at the end of the month. I get to see a lot of friends I don’t often get to spend time with, surrounded by things that interest me. I always like to have something small daily to enjoy, and something bigger in the foreseeable future to anticipate.

This afternoon I was looking forward to a dinner made with fresh morels, which we ordered online with some ramps and fiddlehead ferns. Not inexpensive, but oh, so seasonal and SO GOOD! The chef here at home did not disappoint.

I am looking forward to getting my patio door in place so I can finish the floor and trim in th eliving room. Where is the door now you ask? WHy its in a store somewhere waiting to go on sale so I can buy it and stuff it in the back of my hatchback and bring it home.
I am also looking forward to the day it stops freezing at night so I can plant the garden.

We’re going to Chicago this weekend for my sister’s graduation! It was a bit expensive to fly there, but my parents offered to pay for our hotel (we’ll be staying in a suite with them) and they’ll most likely pay for whatever we eat out, so I can’t complain! Plus, I haven’t seen them since October so I’m pretty excited about that.

I had to “swag” how to cook artichokes, something I’ve never had, but am interested in.

I’m looking forward to having the sun coming out to play, cuz we’ve had nothing but overcast skies and rain all week!! I’ve got laundry to do, geez!! :p

Also we are digging a new garden and I can’t wait to get started!!

Yum, what did you do with the artichoke?

I’m looking forward to repotting my plants this weekend! Got some strawberries and tomatoes going on the roof that are ready to stretch their roots!
