Thrift Hall Baby in Need of Home

by Katy on July 17, 2012 · 13 comments

This is how I know I’m getting better about not buying every cool thing I come across in thrift stores. I didn’t buy this “Thrift Hall” baby bank!

However, it was mighty tempting.

Sniff.

Was it cheap? They sell on ebay for $20. But your will power is inspiring. I have cool banks all over the house in various nooks and crannies that I never get around to selling. Maybe someday I’ll gather them together for a grand group photo and offer them at auction at one fell swoop.

I think it was $3.99.

It’s important not to confuse the asking prices on eBay with the sale prices. In the left column on eBay is a “completed listings” box to check, that will show what things have sold for. If the price is in green, it has sold. If it’s in red, it didn’t sell. It looks like Katie really did the right thing by not buying it:

It is way cooler, though, than its sale prices reflect.

Awww–sooo cute! Reminds me of the “cupie dolls” you used to be able to win at the carnival at the fair. Good restraint, Miss Katy!
I have to tried to remember what a friend told me awhile back…..if you are undecided…pick it up and hold it …then put it back on the shelf….it was mine for awhile…now someone else gets to dust it:)!

Even better — Pick it up, set it down, take a picture, blog about it, Never dust it. 🙂

I, too, feel satisfied just carrying something around the store for a while. I always like to do a final weeding at the register.

I bought a trumpet at goodwill the other day for no reason. I mean, it was $3, and I’m sure its worth a LOT more than that, but still! I was just all OOOH trumpet!

That is the funniest thing I have heard in a month of Sundays.

That’s the scariest-looking thing I’ve ever seen. Imagine that staring at you while you’re trying to sleep? Eek! Have I just watched too many old Twilight Zone episodes? 😉

Thrift baby will eat your eyelids off while you sleep!

Sweet dreams.
